Burano, the colorful Italian island of laces, located just outside Venice. The island is known for it’s colorful houses which are reflected in the green water of the canals. Burano is famous for beautiful laces, embroidered by the local old ladies.

The SS21 collection takes us back to Burano, which has been the location of many summer visits for my sister and me. Memories of the colorful island and the handcrafted laces is the main inspiration of the collection.

Bright and clear colors in solid surfaces and block stripes show the colorful houses, while the mint and pistachio greens in different shades reflect the water of the canals. Small flower embroideries and light cotton dresses with embroidery anglaise are a tribute the long traditional craftmanship of the island. Tennis dresses and retro flower prints are inspired by the stylish Italian women, whereas polo collars and Bermuda suits give the collection a perfect masculine “macho” look. Oversized collars with flounces and laces are a childish and girly memory of summer holidays back in the early 90’s.
